Book Review

As Bacon says, "Reading makes a man perfect." Reading habits result in refining one's character and abilities, contribute to a person's cultural and intellectual development, and offer insights across various subjects. Recognizing the significance of reading, the Department of Languages arranges a 'Book Review' event aimed at familiarising the students with selected books. This event aims to inspire students to cultivate reading habits for a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Poetry Writing

The Poetry Writing competition offers a platform for participants to transcend traditional themes, exploring societal issues, personal narratives, and contemporary topics. Judges not only assess the technical aspects of rhyme and rhythm but also the poet's experimentation with different forms and styles. This competition adds depth by incorporating a segment where participants elucidate the inspiration and meaning behind their poems, emphasizing creativity, originality, and the resonance of the message conveyed through their verses.

Drama

Drama, a prominent element in Tamil culture, is widely admired for its captivating stage performances. It expresses human emotions and exhibits body language, which is a part of human life. Drama is an ancient art through which many societal messages are being transferred from one generation to another. The motto of the drama club is to impart these values. Students participate in it and hold the attention of the audience throughout the program.

Workshop on Creativity

Human beings possess innate qualities and express them appropriately in specific situations. In addition, they benefit greatly from learning experiences provided by experts through guest lectures, training programs, and workshops. Annually, the Workshop on Creativity is organized for students outside the campus to teach literary genres such as poetry, short stories, novels, dramas, and so on. This aims to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of literature while fostering their creative skills.

News Reading

Participants in the News Reading competition are tasked not only with delivering information but also with captivating their audience. Judges evaluate their adaptability to various news styles, their ability to handle complex topics, and their commitment to maintaining a neutral and unbiased tone. The competition extends beyond mere presentation; it delves into the participants' research skills, emphasizing the importance of accurate and reliable information. Overall, participants face the challenge of being the authoritative voice of the news, delivering it with credibility and impactful engagement.

Heroine Hero

The Heroine Hero competition goes beyond imitation, requiring participants to engage in in-depth character analysis. Judges seek a profound understanding of the chosen roles, assessing how well participants capture the essence of characters beyond surface traits. This competition isn't just about mimicry; it incorporates improvisational challenges, testing participants' spontaneity and adaptability in portraying a diverse array of heroines and heroes from various genres. It's a celebration of versatility and the ability to bring fictional personas to life with authenticity.

Speak in Tamil Speak Tamil

In this linguistic celebration, fluency and accuracy are just the starting points. Judges delve into cultural nuances, storytelling abilities, and the participants' connection to the Tamil language and heritage. The competition transcends linguistic skills, involving the exploration of contemporary issues and demanding participants express their thoughts eloquently. Furthermore, participants are evaluated on their capability to emotionally engage the audience, transforming the language into a conduit for shared experiences and cultural expressions.

Moral through Movies

This cinematic challenge is a dual evaluation of storytelling prowess and technical expertise. Judges scrutinize participants' use of symbolism, cinematography, and editing to effectively convey moral or ethical messages. The competition includes a Q&A session, allowing participants to illuminate the thought process behind their creative choices. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on the societal impact of the presented moral lessons, assessing the potential for positive influence through film.

Others

Tamil Mandram, as part of its efforts to preserve the ancient art forms and pass them on to future generations, organizes folk performances such as Vallikoothu, Silabaattam, Kummi Aattam, and Perunjalangai Aattam, which reflect the culture and lifestyle of the local community.
