The department of Costume Design and Fashion actively fosters an innovative spirit among aspiring designers through various department-related activities. The student association, "ESTILIO VIAGGIO," meaning "A Fashion Journey," plays a pivotal role in organizing a range of events and initiatives.

Activities of "ESTILIO VIAGGIO":

Exhibitions: Exhibitions are conducted to promote small business/ entrepreneurs as a part of “EARN WHILE LEARN” a scheme developed to spread awareness and promote the students brand. Students create their own products from scratch and sell them. Pricing the products, promoting, marketing are all taught in a practical way. It also provides students with a platform to showcase their creative and entrepreneurial talents to a wider audience. Participating in such events enhances students' communication and presentation skills, essential for future professional endeavours.
Fashion Shows: Fashion show and Designer shows are a platform for designers to unveil their latest collections. Each designer's unique vision and style are brought to life through the carefully curated pieces presented on the runway. Participation in various fashion shows and costume displays helps students gain practical experience and exposure in the field. This enhances their understanding of real-world scenarios and trends.
Workshops: Workshops covering diverse topics such as fashion sketching, glass painting, clothing printing techniques, Caricatures, Eco printing, Athangudi tiles making, Home decor and furnishing, Sewing tricks and techniques, Soap making, Fabric texture ( sketching), Fabric printing, Aari embroidery, Calligraphy and faux calligraphy and embroidery are conducted. This hands-on approach contributes to the skill development of students.
Intercollegiate Events and activities: The association organizes and participates in intercollegiate events, fostering healthy competition and collaboration among students from different institutions. Students are also encouraged to take part in activities organized by other colleges, providing them with opportunities to interact with a broader community and showcase their talents.
Guest Lectures: The department organizes guest lectures, bringing industry experts to share their insights and experiences. This enriches the learning experience and provides valuable perspectives from professionals in the field. Various lectures on Fashion Journalism, Journey towards success, Soft skill training on communication and interpersonal skills, Bio tech thread- future of industry, Time and moments captured in life- photography, Fashion photography etc was organized for students.
Industry-Institution Interaction: Focusing on collaboration between the industry and the institution, this interaction ensures that students are exposed to real-world practices, industry trends, and potential career paths.
Alumni Success Stories: Former students who have successfully ventured into the world of entrepreneurship share their personal journeys, challenges faced, and lessons learned. Insights into how they applied their education to practical scenarios, fostering a connection between academic learning and real-world application.
Entrepreneurial Insights: Lectures from budding entrepreneurs provide current students with a glimpse into the entrepreneurial mindset and the process of establishing and growing a business. Discussions on innovation, market trends, and the importance of adaptability in the dynamic field of costume design and fashion.
Placement Training: Training sessions held during the second and third years focus on improving students' communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Practical insights into the skills and attributes sought by employers in the fashion industry.
Through these activities, the department aims to create a dynamic learning environment, nurturing not only the technical skills of the students but also their entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in the competitive world of fashion design.
